Short Temper Tantrum

I am feeling increasingly isolated from society, in large part because of its twin obsession with sexuality and political correctness, and I am sick of watching films in which Englishmen burst into tears and we are all supposed to be moved.

Please, oh please, society, stop making films in which the English weep. The English have been weeping since the death of Princess Diana (or the films of Mike Leigh) , and it is no longer moving. It is just embarrassing.

Thank heavens I still know the proper, emotionally continent, stiff-upper-lip  kind of Englishman admired by Continentals. Even if he hasn't acknowledged my last letter, the young wretch.

  1. You should do a post on men crying! It certainly seems a cultural and period based thing.

  3. Please sign the petition thanking Cardinal Burke for his service and courage! And please consider writing a blog post about it/posting a link to it. Thank you! Here's the link: https://www.lifesitenews.com/petitions/thank-you-cardinal-burke-for-your-vatican-service

  4. I just happened to see this quote today, and I thought of your post here. Teehee! :)

"By the way, don't 'weep inwardly' and get a sore throat. If you must weep, weep: a good honest howl! I suspect we - and especially, my sex - don't cry enough now-a-days. Aeneas and Hector and Beowulf, Roland and Lancelot blubbered like schoolgirls, so why shouldn't we?" -- C.S. Lewis, The Collected Letters Volume III

  5. Well, we have seen what happens. (See above.) Of course, a good private howl is probably a good thing, even for men. (See above.) ;-)
