Doin' Journalism

Today I very much wanted to write 800 words about the Młoda Polska art movement for my class presentation, but I didnae. Instead I wrote a column for the CR and some other stuff. However, if you would like to read something I wrote for Catholic World Report about a very nice Canadian archbishop, here it is. Meanwhile, CWR has been writing tons and tons about the Synod.

What a lovely piece on Cardinal Collins! I have met him several times in Edmonton and Toronto as well as attended some of his Lectio Divina talks and he is indeed a very nice, very Canadian archbishop. His love of the Lord shines through him, and he does a good job of balancing the need to stand firm in the truth with the need to always do so with charity and a respect for the dignity of others. And he does have a great sense of humour!

I feel quite spoiled that in almost all of my time as a Catholic he has been my local shepherd, as I joined the Church in Edmonton when he was archbishop there and I moved to Toronto just a few years before he did. Just a dear, dear man -- I cannot say enough good things about him.

  2. I'm glad to read that! I've never met him personally, but I was delighted to see him on British TV during the Synod. I felt really proud of him--and not a little homesick!
