Brutal

Today I was informed by Gracewing, Ignatius Press's UK distributor, that they have sold only three copies of Ceremony of Innocence in the past twelve months.

N.B. I hadn't asked.

Brutal.

Very brutal, especially as I bought one of them in December myself. Surely Blackwell's sold more than two during the Edinburgh Fridge Festival! Surely? Let me see. Franck bought one, and there was that chap....Oh, but he had bought his copy on Amazon had had brought it to be signed. And then... Hmm...

My correspondent at Gracewing feels that they are overstocked and should send all the copies they have back to the USA. Therefore, if you live in the UK, and want the book, and want to skip all the rigamarole with Amazon, then pop down to your local bookstore and order Ceremony through Gracewing today. The lady or gentleman behind the counter may not be able to find it on the computer at once, so small is little Gracewing. However, give the lady or gent all the information you have including my name (very important as, sadly, a whole raft of people thought up that title before B.A. did) and the name Gracewing. They can call them up at  (01568) 616835.

Update: There are 27 copies. Dear British and Irish readers and fans, if you like my writing, do not go to the library, do not go to Amazon, go straight to your local bookshop and put in a direct order to little Gracewing. Naggity nag. I will now put a photo up.

Note the splendid British review  !

  1. :( I ordered it (and thoroughly enjoyed it!) earlier this year, but through Amazon. (I'm in the US, though, so it wouldn't have effected Gracewing either way.) I hope that counts towards your numbers in some way. It's just hard to justify paying shipping on something that ships free with Prime when I'm already paying for Prime. :(

  2. Not worried about numbers in general, especially as the US ones are respectable. Am worried about my little British book babies being banished to the US. They're here, and I want to find them good homes!

    1. :) I'm so glad to hear that the numbers are good in the US!! It's a wonderful book, and they should be!

    2. Thank you! :-D

I do love my little book babies. When in other cities, I visit them in their shops. It's probably a bit mental, but I don't care!

  4. Well, the UK country code is 44, but I simply can't remember how to call the UK from outside. How many zeros you put in front... Gah! Don't know.

  6. It depends on which country you're in. Select the country from which you're calling and the country you want to call to: http://www.howtocallabroad.com/
In most cases (almost all countries except for North America) it's 0044 1568 616835

  7. I wanted to order your book online via Gracewing, even if this is much more expensive (I'm in Germany). But Gracewings's website unfortunately doesn't even seem to list the book.

  8. Thanks Ulrich, I just tried that number and I got through to the answering machine. I'll ask a bookshop to order it for me on Monday. I tried to order last night from Gracewing, their website seems to have been updated in 2012 and I think Seraphic published the novel in 2013.

  9. That's very kind of you, Ulrich! Yes, I have not seen it advertised on Gracewing's list. Gracewing is a small English publisher unaffiliated with Ignatius Press. If in Europe but outside Ireland and the UK, Amazon is probably the way to go, unfortunately.

    1. AHHHHHH! How can it be that you have not got it yet, you have been reading since you were Aussie Girl in London! Aaaaaaaaah!

But actually, I don't know. I looked at the Foreign Distributors page, and it doesn't have OZ or NZ, just this: http://www.ignatius.com/Pages/About/Foreign_Distributors.aspx

I suppose you could ask the bookstore to get it from America for you....or from Gracewing....I hate to ponder what the shipping cost to the Anzacs might be!

  11. Yeah i know! I have Seraphic Singles and even The Tragical Tale.... I think my excuse is that I havent read many books at all since becoming a mum. My two boys under 2 keep me exhausted. I might try Fishpond or Amazon.
